All Special Olympics tennis programs were cancelled in 2020 because of COVID. The only program in 2021 is Washington Township.
2021 is the eighth summer for Special Olympics tennis. The program began in 2013 in Hamilton County, but COVID cancelled all programs in 2020. The program is usually 6:30-7:30 pm one day a week from mid June-early August at these locations
Boone County Zionsville High School (Tuesdays)
Hamilton County Carmel High School (Thursdays)
Washington Twp North Central High School (Wednesdays)
Volunteers are needed to help with the Special Olympics summer tennis programs. The program works on a buddy system—each special needs athlete will have a volunteer buddy. If you want to be a buddy, you need to attend the training session in late May and attend almost all the weekly, one hour sessions in the summer.
All Special Olympics programs are free to athletes. Hamilton County Community Tennis Association/HCCTA has been the sole financial supporter for the tennis program since it was started in 2013.
Athletes must register in the county where they reside. Volunteers can volunteer for any site and more than one site.
