National Girls and Women in Sports Day

This year marks the 32nd anniversary of annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports.

Join Carmel Racquet Club/CRC and Hamilton County Community Tennis Association/HCCTA as they spotlight CRC women who have grown the sport of tennis. You are invited to email an 8.5 x 11 poster of the woman you are celebrating to helen@carmelracquetclub.com by January 31. Your poster will then be displayed on the main bulletin board Feb 1-10.

The NGWSD 2018 theme is “Play Fair, Play IX”
Title IX ensures that students receive educational opportunities free from discrimination based on sex. It’s a short and simple law, but it has truly changed the game for girls and women in sports.

(Editor’s note: Billie Jean King has stated that without the support of former Indiana US Senator Birch Bayh Title IX would not exist. He authored the bill which passed in 1972.)

NGWSD Sponsored by Women’s Sports Foundation
WSF was founded in 1974 by tennis legend, Billie Jean King, the Women’s Sports
Foundation is dedicated to creating leaders by providing girls access to sports.
