With summer around the corner, it is a good time to restring your racquets and get fresh grips! You should restring your racquet as many times a year as you play per week. At the very least, you should restring your racquet once a year. If you use Poly strings or blends, it’s important to change them more often than traditional nylon strings as they break down quickly even though they don’t break as fast. Many players string their racquets slightly tighter during the summer for more control to manage the variable wind and weather conditions. Better players tend to change their grips or overwraps much more frequently than the average player. If your grip or over-grip is more than a month old, has changed color and/or smells really, really bad, it’s time to make that change.
